She was a cheerleader, I was a football player. She is also a close friend of my wife's. Everyone thought we would have dated during that time because we were together so often, but she never asked me out. I didn't ask her because I didn't think she would say yes. I was very shy during those days. Anyway, I grew up, she grew up, and I got married. She got invited to my friends weddings, but not mine. She was also given a plus one.

I got married in the summer. She went to my friends weddings instead of mine. This happened three times. At this point, I had begun to wonder if she did in fact get her invite, I had since changed careers and now I sell invitations. She had the nerve to come to my business and ask about the quality of my invitations. I told her they were high quality designed specifically for weddings. She said, I know, I didn't get one. I was really confused and told her my invitation list was personnel and I wasn't at liberty to disclose. She said I'm personnel, so tell me. I said why would I lie about my wedding invites? she said you wouldn't be the first. Some other guy got mad at me when she accused him of lying about his wedding invites. But I digress. To make a long story short, I asked her if she wanted to go out to dinner sometime. She said yes. I asked her out each week for a month, but she would cancel. This led to a very awkward conversation which ended with her crying and me feeling like an ass hole. I found out that she had in fact received my wedding invitation. She told me she was waiting for me to ask her to my wedding. I told her I was waiting for her to say yes to my invite, but she said that was a lie. She said she would have loved to have gone to my wedding, she didn't want to go to my friends weddings. She said she would have gone to my wedding even if I didn't invite her. She said it hurt her when she saw my friends get married and she wasn't invited to mine. She said she didn't know why I didn't invite her. She said she thought she hurt me so bad that I would never talk to her again. That's why she didn't say anything at my friends weddings. She said she didn't care about my business, she said she started going to my friends weddings because she thought I was ignoring her. She said she wanted to know why I was ignoring her. That's why she kept cancelling our dates. She wanted to go to my house and talk to me in person. She said she wanted to know why I didn't invite her to my wedding, but when she showed up to my house, my wife answered the door. My wife invited her in and offered her a drink. She said she felt like an idiot for not saying anything sooner. I told her it was my fault for not inviting her. I told her I had been in love with her for years, but didn't want to get hurt again. She told me she had been in love with me for years too, but didn't know how to tell me. I told her I was happily married now, but I could tell she was hurt. I asked her to be my mistress, but she said no. I told her I didn't blame her. I told her I was just being selfish. But the truth is I didn't want to lose her again. I was so happy to have her in my life, and I didn't want that feeling to end. Even if it was just as friends. I told her I would understand if she never talked to me again, but she just laughed and said why would I do that? I told her I didn't deserve her. She said I did and hugged me. It's been over 12 years since my wedding, and she still hasn't forgiven me. I just wanted to confess that I hurt someone I loved very much.
