I lied to my wife about my job and I’m afraid this is going to be too much for her to handle

I met my now wife while working in a strip club 5 years ago. I was a DJ and she was a Server and we just clicked. We had the most fun together and she was always honest with me about how much she valued me as a person.

After 3 years of us being together I was offered my dream job which was significantly better than the job I had, but one that I couldn’t bring my now wife to. I was visiting my family, so I told my wife that my dad’s sister wanted to keep my grandma, sister, niece and nephew company for the week on family’s estate in the countryside. I went there for the week and we got engaged at the same place a year later.

I told her that it is a money laundering* scheme, where I work as an assistant to a rich guy. It it true, but I am not a rich guy assistant, I am the owner of a company who makes a lot of money off rich people doing this. My wife drives for a ride sharing company and I support her by telling her how proud I am of her and how she is great.

We will be opening our own company next year and I want to tell her the truth then, but I can’t keep this secret from her anymore and I am sure she will be upset that I lied to her.
