I’m a cop and I’ve been a police officer for 12 years. I’m posting here because I don’t know where else to go and need to talk about this strange as hell case my partner and I are on.

So what happened was three days ago an old woman came into the station. She was totally out of it and was crying. She said her daughter hadn’t come home in two night and was worried something had happened. We took a missing persons report and that’s when it got weird. She saw our expressions when we looked at the photo she gave us and she just kept saying it wasn’t like her daughter hadn’t grown up in this country. <br><br>The photo was of a woman who appeared to be Asian and had very very strange facial features that just didn’t seem right for someone who was (as our dispatcher later put it) supposed to be a young twenty something white woman. We asked her if she was serious about this girl in the photo being her daughter (she kept calling her Josephine) but she was adamant. It was the weirdest thing and I couldn’t tell if the woman was a little senile or not but she was adamant that her daughter had been in the army and through her travels had been stationed in a country called “Ch_icon” or something. She was German so she had a little bit of an accent so I don’t know how to spell what she said. She said her daughter had been flying in to visit her on Monday evening and she hadn’t heard from her since. She was afraid of the worst. <br><br>Of course we took it seriously but we also thought that the photo was maybe a joke? And this woman was just batshit crazy. I thought she’d be calling us in a few days saying the cops had stolen her teeth. But for some reason I had this gut feeling that this woman wasn’t crazy. I don’t know. Something about the way she talked about her daughter just seemed so... sincere. Like I knew she was telling the truth. I can’t explain it.<br><br>Anyway, my partner and I started asking around and just doing some basic digging. We asked all of the airlines in the area if there had been any flights in or out on Monday and Tuesday and we found one airline that said there was a woman who used the last name of the missing woman had flown in. But get this... she had no first name. We were all confused and asked the airline staff at the airport if that wasn’t strange and the woman booking the flight had just said she didn’t have a first name. They all said it was weird but figured it just slipped their minds to say anything (which is bullshit but we all make oversights so whatever).<br><br>So we go to pick up the baggage information for Josephine and that’s where things started getting weird. She had paid for a checked bag but there was no record of her picking it up. They went through their security cameras and she had never showed up at the baggage claim. But she DID go through security and DID get on the plane. <br><br>We decided to go to the airport and review the footage ourselves. We decided to start with the plane she had flown in on. This is where it gets really really strange. She had scanned her ticket and walked down to the plane. But just as she was about to enter the plane she stopped and started talking to someone just out of view of the camera. Then she turned around and left. But here’s the thing, WE CAN’T FIND ANY RECORD OF HER LEAVING THE AIRPORT. It’s like she just fucking disappeared. <br><br>We talked to everyone who had been working that day and the ticket guy at the gate said she had seemed a little jumpy and he was sure she was talking to someone but he couldn’t see who. The woman working at the ticket counter said she had seemed nice but “not from around here”. I don’t know what that means but we asked her to explain and she said that she didn’t know but she just seemed like she didn’t really know how anything worked or what to do and kept asking her weird questions. Like she had asked her why she couldn’t just walk onto the plane.... things like that. <br><br>We’re stumped and have no idea where this woman is. No one has any record of her existing anywhere. We found her mother's records of her joining the military and the address on her military records is the same as her mother's so it looks like she lived with her mother before she enlisted. But we can’t find any record of her actually being in the military. It’s like she never existed at all until her mother said she was going to visit. <br><br>I’m just really fucking confused, you guys.
