Actor managed to convince me that he can't be arrested for assault without also getting a warrant for his house.

I'm a Police officer in a pretty small town. We deal with our fair share of celebrity's and i have no problem with the idea that famous people are human beings and deserve the right to be treated fairly and friendly. The problem is they let their celebrity go to their heads and they abuse the fact that i have to be extra careful not to do or say anything that might make it seem like i'm harassing them. Shit like this happens all too often.

So we get a call that a local actor (pretty well known for playing a pretty major superhero) who lives in my response area was screaming and berating his staff at a local restaurant in front of other patrons. He was being belligerent enough that the manager called the Police because they were trying to close and he wouldn't leave.

We show up. He smells like alcohol and is clearly very drunk. He's being loud and obnoxious and the staff are all either crying or close to it. I try to talk to him and say "Sir you're intoxicated and clearly need to go home. Lets get you out of here calmly." He tells me he doesn't want to talk to me and to "fuck off". I ask him a second time to calm down and he tells me i need to either arrest him or leave him alone. At this point i can tell he's looking for an excuse to make a big issue out of this to get me in trouble so i can't arrested him for being drunk and disorderly in public.

I tell him that's it and i'm placing him in custody for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. And that's where things turn really shitty. He starts screaming and slapping his hands against the walls and punching the door. He's actually cracking the drywall and leaving dents. I warn him multiple times that if he continues he'll be charged with felony vandalism and property destruction. He continues to destroy property and leaves a large dent in the metal door. Its enough to break the threshold for felony charges.

At this point i'm fed up with his arrogant shit and i tell him i'm taking him into custody for felony vandalism. I go to place cuffs on him and he says "no". And then he actually walks away from me. I tell him he needs to stop and i use reasonable force to place my hand on him. He hit me with his elbow and tells me to "fuck off".

I've had enough of this jerk and i place my hand high and tell him i will taze him if he doesn't put his hands behind his back. He tells me to "fuck off" again. And i taze him. He falls to the ground like a bitch and i place cuffs on him. I also place him in ankle cuffs because i can tell he's going to be a problem. And he was. We had to call for backup off duty officers to come in and help get him into the back of the car. He was trying to kick out the windows and was actually able to break one before we got his legs cuffed.

We get him in his cell. He's calling his lawyer the entire time and demanding that i be disciplined and that he wants to see a supervisor. I call my sgt and tell him what happened and he's on the way. I go tell the actor that a supervisor is on the way and that this is his last chance to calm down before i charge him with resisting arrest. He tells me i can "fuck off". At this point the sgt shows up and asks what's going on in this report. I explain what happened and the actor overhears this and again tells me to "fuck off". I've lost my patience and i tell him i'm charging him with resisting arrest for refusing a lawful order.

He demands to see a "real cop" and not a "shitty small town rent-a-cop". At this the sgt tells me to add contempt towards an officer to the charges. I ask if i should call for transport to county jail. The sgt says that he can stay here for now since he's being combative. And that's when the actor tells us that we can't arrest him without getting a warrant for his house.

We both look at him and laugh. And i tell him that's not how that works. That we can arrest him for anything he does in front of us and that the charges are accumulative and there is no requirement that we can only arrest someone for one crime at a time. He keeps insisting this is how it works and that charge's need to be prioritized for search warrants. I ask if he got his legal knowledge from TV and he tells me that it was from his lawyer. I tell him he needs to get a new lawyer because he's being misinformed. He gets angry that i keep insulting him and asks the sgt if i need to be disciplined. The sgt tells him that he's being arrested on multiple charges and needs to face the reality of the situation.

This was about 6 months ago and i heard he got a slap on the wrist and was only convicted on one charge which he'll plead out of probably. I heard he was dropped from the movie franchise he starred in after this.
