You can save thousands of dollars a year by buying your prescription contacts in two box increments from walmartcontacts.com instead of 1 box at the eye doctor.

I've been wearing contacts for 13 years. With my astigmatism my contacts are $70 a box at the eye doctor. I need to buy 8 boxes a year because each eye needs one a month. That makes it $560 a year!

Last week I asked them to give me my prescription so I could take it elsewhere. They told me that when you take it to another provider you need to add a $75 "contact fitting fee" which makes it a $635 a year.

The eye doctor told me to check out 1800Contacts.com which is $58 a box. Alright, thats a $464 a year. The eye doctor still looked at the website and said "Oh shit, they charged you $15 shipping?" and told me to try Walmart.

Walmart does free shipping and no tax if you get two boxes at a time. Thats right, two boxes at a time. Contacts come in boxes of 3 so they have to send me six contacts at a time. I have to stockpile four contacts a year but I save thousands in the long run. $43 a box for both eyes is $344 a year, which is $2916 over eight years.

~OC
