I work in a hospital lab. One of the perks is seeing all the positive preg tests before anyone else. Sometimes though, the test comes up negative, but there's still a faint plus sign.

It's always in the same spot. Identical in shape and size. A cross. I brought it up with a few people, but they don't see it. No one believes that it's a problem, but given the rate of miscarriages, there has to be some correlation.

EDIT: Some people have been asking me about the plus signs and what it means. A pregnancy test is made up of two lines. These lines are made up of antibodies, which tag onto the pregnancy hormone and makes it visible. If you're pregnant, the pregnancy hormone will also be present and bind with the antibodies to make it more visible. If you're not pregnant, there's no pregnancy hormone so it will only show the antibodies, which look like a line.

Pregnancy tests work because the antibodies are shaped in a certain way that complements the shape of the pregnancy hormone. The plus sign in the tests that I've seen look like a normal line, but with a cross shape. It looks...different. Like the antibody looks differently shaped entirely. Like it doesn't complement the pregnancy hormone. The tests I've seen, the ones where the woman loses her babies, the mothers were always thrilled with the results. None of them have ever suspected a thing.
