When I was 16 I got a job at McDonald’s in an attempt to get some money to buy a car with. I was put on the front counter taking money and I quickly realized that if I took quarters and nickels and sometimes even dimes and put them strait in my pocket, because the register only counted ones, fives, tens and twenties no one would notice if I took change.

The first time I did it I took 5 dollars worth of change and put it in my car and that was it. It took me a month or 2 to get around to counting and it and when I did, I realized that it was way more than I thought. And the next day, I remembered and started doing it again.

I continued to do this for the 2 years I worked there. I had change in my centre console, under my seats and in my trunk.

Eventually my mom started to notice I was buying all my friends food and buying the newest electronics and she asked where I was getting the money and I just told her I had gotten a second job and that I was getting paid under the table.

After 2 years of working at McDonalds, I had saved up so much money in change that when I bought my first car I didn’t have to pay a single dollar for it. I got a new iPhone and my friends thought I was crazy because I always paid for their meals and I took them on trips.

I eventually quit my job because I had saved up enough money to buy an apartment and was able to cover my costs and now I’m 25 and have a really good job and still think to myself…. I stole thousands of dollars in change and got away with it.
