The worst thing about being a mailman is seeing all the doors with no one behind them.<br><br>Edit: I want to clear up first that this was not an original story written by me, but it is a passage from the book, *The Fisherman*, by John Langan, a monster horror story heavily influenced by Algernon Blackwood's weird tales. The book is a pulitzer prize winner and I highly recommend it for any fans of monster horror.<br><br>Second, I would like to thank the community for visiting the page I posted this story on, as I did not expect this story to blow up like it did. I have tried to keep this sub updated on where this story came from and where to find it, and so far the engagement has been great, with a lot of new followers and comments.<br><br>Lastly, I would like to address two of the biggest criticisms that this post has gotten 1) That it is a repost, and 2) That I did not properly cite the passage. Regarding the first criticism, I was not aware that the story had been posted before, and the meme that it is has since become was not a meme when I posted it. That being said, I should have done my due diligence to make sure that I was not wasting the community's time with a repost, and for that, I apologize. Also, regarding the second criticism, I did not originally plan on this post blowing up, and I am a college student with midterms and interviews in the works. I should have looked harder for the passage's original source, and I should have made a better effort to get the proper permissions from the author and publisher. However, I have since made a good faith effort to notify John Langan of the situation, and to make sure that people are aware of the passage's origin so that it does not get lost in the void that is the internet.<br><br>Thank you all again for visiting, and I hope that we can move past this and continue to interact with each other through this subreddit.
