I'm a volunteer in charge of pickup for a local donation center and I'm begging you to stop donating your old TVs. The donation center will not accept them and then we have to tell you to recycle them. Recycle them first please. We will not take them if we can't donate them.

Edit #1: People are pleasantly surprising me with the DMs I have received. Y'all are the best. Thank you and I'm going back to my regular account to read them :)

Edit #2: Thank you for the silver and gold. If you read the comments you will probably laugh, cry, and be amazed. Thank you. You are all the best. If I shared some of the stories with you you would not believe me.

Edit #3: I was on a pickup today. The girl who was donating the items took us aside and gave us $20 telling us to buy pizzas and drinks. I am so surprised with the ammount of kindness some of you have showed. Thank you. For the first time I feel proud of my city.

Edit #4: I just got off shift. I had to write 4 people slips for old TVs. One of them asked the right question "What do people want with new TVs if they are giving away the old ones?" I told them it was because of the price to recycle them. For those of you who are in the comments saying that it's our job to do it, we get $0.15/lb to cover that cost. I would love to but we are not legally able to do that as the fees collected are not to be used for that. And no, it is not our job to recycle them. It is yours.
