In college I gave my roommates neighbors an open invitation to roam my floor whenever they wanted and I never told my roommates about it.

This is something I never admitted to anyone, not even my closest of friends and definitely not my roommates. It was a complete spur of the moment action but the outcome was something you couldn't script.

In my first year of college I had 2 roommates that I became immediate friends with. We clicked like notched pieces of a puzzle. We were loud and obnoxious and were complete shitheads. One of my roommates had a next door neighbor he became infatuated with. She was attractive and had a pretty outgoing personality. My roommates infatuation didn't last very long as he had no game and was an introvert.

One day the neighbors were having a party and it turned into a rave. It was 1am and I had to use their bathroom because mine was occupied. I walked into their room, that was littered with half drunk girls and boys. I worked my way through the crowd to the bathroom, did my business, washed my hands and came out. I was immediately offered a half full bottle of wine with 2 girls attached. They asked who I was and why I was there. I told them I was the roommate next door and had to use the bathroom. I then said "Hey listen I give you guys a blessing. You and your guests are all welcome and have an open invitation to roam our side whenever you want, I don't care if we're sleeping, passed out, or whatever. Make yourselves at home and please don't worry about disturbing us". The girls looked stunned and went into the bedroom to tell who I assumed to be the host.

The host came out and it was the attractive neighbor of my roommates. She had a huge smile on her face and said "I will hold you to that, I'm impartial to you and your roommates so this is an open invitation to you as well". I said my good byes, took my wine with me and went back to my room to explain what I just did to my roommates.

They both looked at me with this confused and angry look. My roommate asked "Why the fuck would you do that? Why did you give them permission to roam our floor, now I'll have no privacy!?" I just laughed and took a swig of my wine and said I'm going back to the party.

From that night on, their guests were always at our place. We'd wake up to random strangers passed out in our beds, on our couches, on our floor. Sometimes we wouldn't wake up until noon because some random girl would be holding us and telling us to sleep in. We'd come home to our kitchen full of strangers eating our food. We'd come to our room to find a random girl sitting doing homework or watching tv on our PC. It was non-stop. My roommates despised me for this, but I thrived on the attention. It was the best feeling in the world. I was like a rockstar. The girls that hung out of my roommates neighbors would often hang out in my room with me. They would ask me to do stuff for them because they knew I'd say yes. I went to classes for them, picked up their groceries, even went to the hospital with one of the girls because she thought she had a STI and didn't want to take her boyfriend with her.

The rest of my college years, I never stayed in the dorms. I always lived off campus because I didn't want to lose the feeling I had. I'd have parties, and events, and even let random people stay in my spare room when they had nowhere else to go. I always put myself out to make sure people had a good time even if it meant sacrificing my own time with my friends or my own sanity. To this day I will give people an open invitation to stay at my house whenever they want.

I eventually lost contact with my roommates. We went on to do our own things and I never heard or saw them again. But that one night was the catalyst that made me who I am today.
