LPT: A filling (non-permanent) nail polish is not just useful when painting over nail art to give yourself more time before your next manicure appointment but also useful when painting shoes, furniture, or every other things where you don't want to have paint over and ruin the surface.

We can't afford to buy new shoes right now and my daughters white sneakers started to crack and due to the heat the paint on her shoes started to fade. I used a nail polish that I had at home (a filling one) to paint over the crack and she didn't even recognise that I painted over it. I will try to see how long it stays and if it will be good for the long run though.

So if you have anything to paint I would recommend to first paint it with a nail polish. Due to the fact that it is not permanent you can easily remove it. It is just good to give it a try first (test it somewhere where you don't see it after painting).

The shoes I was painting were made out of some kind of fake leather and it didn't destroy the material. The nail polish is just a quick fix until we can afford to get her new shoes.

Edit: I don't know if some people lived under a rock but the reason I am painting over her shoes is because it started to crack and the paint (from the shoes) faded away. The shoes are originally white. I also have a contact dermatitis and you can't even imagine how expensive special shoes for people with a contact dermatitis are. I don't paint over the whole shoe just some spots due to the fact that I don't want her to walk around with colorful shoes. And by the way- I don't care if you think it is gross to paint over shoes. It is her decision to let me paint over the shoes she is wearing and honestly with the state her shoes are in right now I would rather have her walking around with nail polish on the shoes than her walking around with the paint fading away or cracking.
