I laced my braid with thumbtacks as a kid to “hurt” anyone who tried to touch me

I (28F) had the most gentle, loving family ever. As a kid, I remember having this irrational fear that people were going to randomly come up and touch my hair. I was like 6 or 7. I remember being so scared of people just coming up and touching me near my head that I decided I would “arm” myself for when it happened. I took the little metal parts from thumbtacks and wove them into my braids. I'm black and I had box braids at the time so they were easy to incorporate into my hair. My mom was so confused when she saw the metal showing through my hair but she let it go and didn't make me take them out. I only remember doing this once but never forgetting about doing it whenever I had braids. I'm glad no one decided to randomly go near my head because I'm positive they would have bled had they touched my “armed” braids.

EDIT: I want to clarify that this wasn't a regular thing I did. I remember this as a onetime thing. I just wanted to share if anyone else ever did some weird shit as kids. I got my first perm at 8 so it's not like I walked around with arm braids all the time. Also, I know a lot of black people have had their hair touched without consent which probably played into my fear of people touching me. I didn't make this post for anything other than to share a weird childhood thing I did.
