I laced my braid with thumbtacks as a self defense tactic

I’m a girl and I was 22 at the time (currently 30). I used to have very long hair, it was about the same length as my torso. I would usually keep it in a braid when I went out. <br><br>I had recently seen a video of a girl being harassed and her hair was grabbed and she was shaken around by it until she fell to the ground. This shook me up and I remember having experience with my hair being grabbed before and I didn’t want that to happen again. <br><br>I started putting thumbtacks in my braids as a self defense tactic when I went out. I knew that if my hair was grabbed again, the person doing it would be severely injured and I could buy myself some time to get to safety. <br><br>I never had to use it as a self defense tactic. But I did ruin a lot of hair ties and I once scratched my shoulder with one of the thumbtacks.
