**UPDATE 3**: Apparently this is an unusual industry, in which those signing contracts are doing so in a month long ceremony, during which they have access to a ten-volume set of materials explaining the legal terminology. <br><br>The alternative explanation is that I am an asshole, and everyone should get an LLC just to signing an employment contract.<br>Either way, this is an echo chamber now, so signing off! <br><br>**UPDATE 2**: I am blown away by the lack of basic employment contracts in your lives. You guys do realize that in the real world, contracts are finalized *before* you start work, and if you’re going to take legal advice from Chambers, that’s your choice. Seriously though, get offline and get a real lawyer if you are concerned. And signing an employment contract is an adversarial process, I thought everyone knew that. <br><br>**UPDATE**: I am getting a lot of outraged comments, so maybe this is a regional thing. Where I am, everyone gets contracts in advance. This is common everywhere, no? With time to review and take to a lawyer? <br>I am in a union, FYI, and our company is OK. But this is general advice for your first signing, which everyone goes through.
