I stole so much food because I was hungry.

*edit 2 : I live in a country called Sierra Leone, please don’t make assumptions about how my country is doing just because you’ve heard it’s a third world country.<br><br>*edit : thank you all so much, if you gave me some change I promise to put it to good use because I really appreciate it. <br>I know it wasn’t right but I was just so hungry and it’s hard to save money, even though I’m only 16 I’m asking my parents if I can get a job but they say it’s not worth my time because they tell me to just go to school to make sure I have a good future.<br><br>I live in a poor country in Africa, I have never been so hungry in the past and even though our country is in a bad state, things are getting worse and worse by the day.<br><br>This has also caused prices and inflation to rise so high.<br><br>I go to school everyday and also work as a tutor, but the pandemic has massively hit my job as I had to stop tutoring for over a year. <br><br>I started again recently, but my students have decreased massively, I can’t blame them, it’s not safe and the situation in my country doesn’t allow for in person meetings. <br><br>I finally got a new student who pays very well, but for the last few days, I’ve been so so hungry, I am 16 so I don’t drive yet but I walk everywhere. I walk 5km everyday to school and 5km from school, on top of walking hours everyday.<br><br>I was so so so hungry and my parents didn’t have money to give me to buy food.<br>I went to buy food and I stole so much.<br><br>I stole 5 pineapples, 3 sugarcane, 15 corn, 5 boiled plantains, 5 boiled cassava and 2 bags of popcorn, just because I was so so so hungry.<br><br>I ate it all in one day.<br><br>The day after that I decided to go buy food and steal again lol and this time I ate it all in two days but the lady who was selling it noticed I wasn’t paying for all my food, but didn’t say anything because I guess she knew I was hungry.<br><br>I finally got money and she sent me a message saying I owe her so much money for all the food, and I felt so bad and like an idiot stealing from her when she knew I was.<br><br>I felt so ashamed and I payed her back for all the food I stole. She didn’t charge me for anything, I’m planning on giving her some money back tomorrow, it’s pandemic and I know she’s struggling.<br><br>I felt so ashamed of stealing, but I was just so hungry and I didn’t know what to do, I’m 16 and I felt like such a child.<br><br>I’ve never stolen food before, but I didn’t know what to do. She is doing better now, and I’m not that hungry anymore but I still feel bad, so I’m deciding to give her some money back and tell her how much I’m sorry.
