I stole thousands of dollars as a kid from a really good employee

I’ll never forget it. I was about 12 and it was my first job as a busboy at a high end restaurant. I was washing dishes and this really nice older man named Ron was working as a line expeditor for the sauce station. He was about 55 and was always super cool to me and would show me all the cool stuff he used to do as a sous chef at the restaurant. He always gave me a ton of food from his station to take home to my family. I don’t know what happened but he just started leaving his aprons on the ground by the dishwasher and I’m assuming he was just letting the dishwashers wash it for him but none of us were doing it. So I would consistently take his aprons out of the lost and found and wash them. And I would take the tips out of the aprons every night.

He was a really good guy and I still feel bad about it. I hope he didn’t need that money because he was taking care of his wife with dementia and three kids. I was a piece of shit kid and I’m really sorry. I probably took about $2,000 worth over about two years.
