If you're worried about someone's health or wellness after getting in a car accident, insist that they go to the hospital in an ambulance

I was in a bad car accident last year. The person at fault was probably going around 80-90 mph, and they slammed into my car and sent it across the street into someone else's house. I didn't feel like I was too hurt, and I just wanted to go home and take a nap. I thought I was fine, and it was raining and I didn't want my parents to have to come out in the rain. I was polite and declined the ambulance, and I had my parents pick me up. A few days later, I was in a ton of pain, my chest was black and blue, I had trouble breathing, and I discovered that I had 4 broken ribs. My parents had to take care of me for 2 months, and I missed a huge opportunity at work. If I had gone to the hospital, they would have been able to determine that my ribs were broken and treat it early on to get me back to 100% in a shorter amount of time. I would have also felt a lot better and not been in so much pain and it would have saved my working relationship with my boss. I made a stupid mistake by trying to tough it out, and it set me back a lot.

If you're in an accident and someone declines medical care, tell them the story of what happened to me. Arrange for someone to come and pick them up from the hospital, and explain that the ambulance is free in most areas and that any injuries will be documented and it's free. If they have any injuries that could get worse, it's crucial that they are treated as soon as possible. The same thing goes if you were in an accident and you're declining medical care. At least go to the hospital.
