I stole hundreds of dollars in food from my bulimic roommates

I used to live in an apartment with 4 other girls. It was an absolutely disgusting frat house of a house. <br>For context bulimia is a mental disorder that is characterized by binge eating and then vomiting. The only bulimic roommate I know of is my old roommate “Kate”. Kate used to go to the grocery store and buy large food items like boxes of cookies, tubs of ice cream, loaves of bread, gallons of milk etc. I would always notice her buying a lot of food. <br>Kate was a very picky eater though and she liked to do something called “exorcism” where she ate a large amount of food, waited for a few hours and then vomited all of it out of her body. I’m not sure why she used to buy so much food when she was going to throw it all up later but it made no sense to me. She always left her snacks out on the counter too and I thought she was just a very careless person because I caught her putting a half empty tub of ice cream back in the freezer.<br>One time I caught her vomiting in the bathroom. This was the turning point for me because I realized Kate was the type of person to buy a full loaf of bread then eat the whole thing and throw it all up. I started stealing her food because I was convinced she didn’t want or need it. She would still always finish the loaf of bread by herself but then throw it all up. It made no sense. <br>I would eat her ice cream, her sandwiches, her chips, her cookies. Anything she bought I ate. <br>One time I came home from work and saw Kate had bought a 5 pound box of chocolates. I thought to myself, “why on earth is Kate buying so many chocolates, she’s going to eat them and then throw up anyways.” During the next few days Kate and her friends would have little bites of the chocolates and put them back in the box. She didn’t throw any of it up and they eventually ran out of chocolates. After that I realized Kate wasn’t going to throw up the chocolates because someone else was eating them too. I realized I had been stealing food from Kate and her friends. <br>Kate was a very kind girl and she always shared her food. <br>I’m not sure how much money I stole from Kate over the years but It must have been in the 1000s at this point.
