I broke into a greenhouse and stole a bunch of plants when I was a kid, and the owners were so sweet that I never did it again.

I'm currently in my mid 20s, but when I was around 10 years old, I lived on the outskirts of a small town. The town was surrounded by countryside and fields. There was a large house not too far from where I lived with a small greenhouse. I don't know if it was just for personal use or if they sold the plants, but it was full of the most beautiful plants I'd ever seen, and I felt like I had to have them. I remember being so obsessed with the idea of getting into the greenhouse and taking the plants. There was no real reason for it, other than I felt like I could get away with it and I wanted the plants for myself.

One night, I decided to go through with it. I snuck out of my house after everyone was asleep and made my way to the greenhouse. It was pretty easy to break in; there was only a little lock on the door, and it was simple to pick. Once I was inside, I picked out some of the most beautiful plants and took them with me. I remember feeling so nervous the whole time, constantly checking over my shoulder, but excited at the same time.

The next morning, there was a knock at our door. I was terrified, thinking that the police were there to arrest me for stealing the plants. But it was the owners of the greenhouse and their young daughter. They told my parents what had happened, and they were very kind and understanding. They said they understood that the plants were tempting and that I should not have done it. My parents apologized and promised to pay for the plants and make sure I never did something like that again. The owners smiled and told me not to worry about it, and that they didn't want their money. What they wanted was for me to come and help them clean up the greenhouse and replant the stolen plants, and that they would teach me how to do it myself. I was so ashamed and guilty, but I decided to take them up on their offer. I spent the next few days helping them clean up and replant the stolen plants, and they taught me how to care for them and even let me pick a small one to take home for myself. They also gave me some tips on how to grow plants properly. I was so touched by their kindness and I promised to never do it again.

After that day, I never stole anything again. I also never forgot what they did for me. From that day I decided to plant some stuff in my backyard. I learned new things, and that it's always better to ask than to steal.
