I always roll down the windows of my truck a few inches overnight to help it cool down for the morning commute, but I roll it back up before leaving for work. Yesterday I forgot, and it was the most terrifying thing that’s ever happened to me.

The crisp morning air filled my nostrils as I slid into the driver’s seat. I tossed my lunchbox and coffee in the passenger seat, reached over to shut the passenger side window, and caught a whiff of the sweetest perfume I’d ever smelled. I looked at the backseat, expecting to see my wife riding to work with me as a surprise.
