I have a friend who I am “Dad Joke” friends with. He works as an IT Manager at one of the banks. I am one of the “Vendor” at that same bank.

He got into this thing of sending me these ridiculously bad jokes for the longest time. He calls them “Dad Joke.” I am not sure what was the origin of Dad Jokes, but it looked like this thing of dad’s rubbing them off on their children for years.

Anyway, we went back and forth for the longest time. Then we just compiled them and published them into a small book.

Last year, he was in a terrible accident. One of his friends started a gofundme to raise money for his hospital bills.

At first, I was like everyone else and donated. Then I thought what I can do with this gofundme.

I decided to sent my book on highest bidder on this gofundme page. I just wanted to give his friends something to enjoy while raising money for my friend.

Well, it just took off. Many of his friends came up to me, asking me to buy the book.

I think I have sold more than 100 of them to that group alone. Many of them were so happy with them that they ordered more than 5 at a time.

It was hell of the time packing them and sending it to them one by one. I think now my friend is raising money by just selling the book.

I have now received requests from other people to get a copy of the book. I am thinking of using this money for charity like, Tunnels to Towers, or maybe St. Jude.

It is funny. I have sold something that we never thought would go away.

EDIT: I am overwhelmed by the responses.

Thank you.
