I had this thought when I was younger, to get a few snakes and breed them, and then sell the babies. However, I did not do this. One day, I was at a pet store. It was a chain pet store, and I don’t remember which one. I was getting food for my pets, and they had an adopt a pet stand (I think it was cat and dog, but I don't remember). They also had a local reptile breeder working there, who was selling bearded dragons and some non-venomous snakes. I immediately started talking to him, since I was considering getting a snake at the time. We talked for a while about the snakes and dragons, and I finally said, “You know, I’ve been thinking about getting some snakes and breeding them. What are some of the best species to breed?”

The guy at the stand looked at me, paused, and said, “Do you have pet snakes, or are you just looking to get some?”

I replied, “I don’t have any right now.”

The guy at the stand got a weird look on his face, and leaned in to me, close enough to where I could smell the earthy odor of the reptile food, and said, “Don’t do that. I have around 150 snakes at home, and it’s not worth it. They’re not even making a profit anymore. I had 300 snakes at one point, but I couldn’t feed them all, so I had to sell a bunch of them, even some of my favorites. I have a wife and kids, and I want to provide for them, so I’m going to continue with this for a while. But if I could go back, I never would have done it, so do not to this.”

This stuck to me, and I eventually decided to get snakes as pets, not as any sort of financial gain. It is not worth it. Snakes are amazing animals, and they don’t deserve to just be a means of profit for you. If you want to get snakes, don't do it for profit. You will not be making enough money, and you will lose money. It is not worth the stress that it will put on you, and it is not worth the damage it will put on your relations with any family or friends you may have. Do not buy a pet snake to breed.

**PS**: This was my first post on reddit. I'm sorry if it does not fit perfectly into the chamber, but I wanted to share this with you all, as I personally believe that it is a life pro tip.
