I always thank Siri at the end of our interactions

I have a habit of thanking people after I interact with them. I always thank cashiers, I always thank bus drivers, I always thank people for doing their job. A common criticism of how I raise my children is that I make them thank the restaurant staff for the food after they have finished their meal. <br><br>This habits has been translated to my interactions with AIs. Every time I ask Siri to do something for me, I thank her as soon as she has done it, and when I end the conversation. Every time I use chat-gpt, I end my interactions by thanking the AI. When I ask Alexa something, I always reply “thank you” when she gives me an answer. I even do this with generative AI art.<br><br>I’m aware that, at the end of the day, it is just code performing actions. Very intelligent code, but it’s nothing more, and I’m not thanking an actual person. It’s at the point that I might as well be thanking my toaster for making my toast. But whatever, it’s not hurting anyone, and it’s just nice to be nice. Even when I know it’s futile.
