I lied to my wife and said i was at the hospital. In reality I was at a strip club drinking and getting lap dances

This was 5 years ago when i worked at a restaurant. It was a very busy night and i was supposed to get off at 10:30 but my coworker called in drunk and my manager asked me to stay. I told him i was expecting a call from my wife at 10:30 to check in. He said, "well what are you gonna tell her?" and i jokingly said, "im gonna tell her i'm at the hospital."<br><br>He liked that idea and i ended up staying at work for another hour. So that's exactly what i did. I told my wife i got a call around 10:15 saying a friends mom was in the hospital and she wondered why i wasnt wearing my work clothes. The first lie led to another and i told her i was meeting my friend at the hospital and i forgot my clothes at work so i had to stop by there first, hence why im still in my work clothes.<br><br>So i get off work at 11:30 and its now 12:15 and i'm in a black out haze drinking at a strip club and getting lap dances from a white stripper. I go outside at 3:30 to take a piss and i hear the alarm going off in my pocket. I pull out my phone and see 15 missed calls from my wife going back to 12:30 saying my "friends mom" is doing worse than expected and she needs me to come home. <br><br>I started panicking because i realized i had no idea what my friend's name or what his mom's name was. It was a lie, so i panicked even more and told my wife i would come home in the morning. The next day i came home and she was furious. She told me how i was a piece of shit and how im a horrible husband. My friend called me a few days later and said that his mom passed away on the same night i was at the strip club. i felt guilty for the rest of my life.<br><br>Edit: I'm not the guy from a few days ago who confessed to this and i've been lurking for a long time. Its 2021, stop shaming others for going to strip clubs.
