LPT: Your car insurance will cheaper if you park it somewhere safe.

If you park your car on the street it's more likely to get dinged or vandalized, which means that you will have to make more claims, which in turn means that your insurance company is at higher risk of losing money. If your insurance company thinks you'll make more claims then they'll charge you more in premiums. The premium difference between safe parking and street parking was a very welcome surprise to me when I switched.<br><br>Edit: I was asked for numbers so here's an example of a car I used to own, parked in our safe driveway:<br><br>$100/month<br><br>If I had parked it on the street it would have been $200/month.<br><br>EDIT2: if you park on the street because that's all you have and can't afford a different place to live, you are not bad and you don't deserve more insurance costs. I'm not trying to judge you. I'm just saying that, if you can afford to park your car in a better place, that will lower your costs.
