I secretly broke my girlfriend's expensive shoes so she will stop wearing them

I would never dare tell her this. She has a pair of shoes that are: (1) too big (2) completely inappropriate for the weather and (3) make her ankles bleed. But she insists on wearing them whenever we go out because her best friend gave them to her as a hand-me-down. I cannot stand the sight of her wearing those shoes. (1) The shoes are too big and would often slip out of her feet. Imagine walking beside a girl who slips out of her shoes on every 5th step. (2) It's the Philippines. It's been raining non-stop for the past few weeks and the streets are flooded. Imagine the filth that those shoes go through. The water sometimes reaches knee-level. I cannot bear to see her waste her best friend's gift but I cannot stand seeing her wear those shoes either. (3) I think this was the last straw. Imagine walking with a girl whose ankles bleed with each step because the shoes are too big and would constantly slide down. I could not bear to see her suffer through that. So, one night, while she was out and the house was all to myself, I hid her shoes and replaced them with cheap imitations that I bought from a mall. I hid her shoes for around two weeks. And, during that time, I would always accompany her to the mall. And, sure enough, when she'd complain about the cheap imitation shoes that I got for her, I'd always suggest buying a new shoe from the mall. My plan worked. She stopped wearing the hand-me-down shoes and started wearing the new shoes that I bought for her. She was delighted. And I (somehow) felt like I got away with it. I secretly threw out her hand-me-down shoes. She has not noticed yet. Thank God, she did not miss those shoes.
