Right now, in my country, there is a huge scandal involving several high-profile celebrities who have bribed their children's way into top universities. It is arguably one of the biggest scandals there in recent years and the celebrities involved are all losing face and receiving backlash. This is supposed to be the proof that the system is working and the celebrities are being held accountable for their crimes, but for people like me, we are fully aware that this is not the end. In reality, the system is still flawed and anyone with money and power can cheat their way into a good university and get away with it.

I got into my university using a method similar to those caught in the scandal. I had a friend who was the son of a powerful politician and he got into the same university as me using the same method. We were admitted under the special admission category for students from poorer regions. I know several other people who got in using this method. Getting into a good university in my country is extremely competitive and the system is flawed, so the wealthy hire proctors to help their children cheat. However, getting caught by the proctors can mean that a student is banned from taking the university entrance exams for two years. Therefore, the wealthy also bribe the proctors and university officials to ensure that their children get in. The politicians and wealthy individuals in my country are so powerful that it is impossible to hold them accountable.

I feel that my admission was unfair to those who worked hard but could not get in. I have the burden of this guilt for the rest of my life. I hope that one day the system will change and everyone will have an equal chance of getting into a good university.
