I laced my braid with thumbtacks as a self defense tactic

So this was many years ago, when I was a young teen. <br><br>I had very long braids at the time- about waist length. I was always afraid of being grabbed or attacked and held by my hair. <br><br>My solution was to weave thumbtacks into my braids- the points facing outward. I also carried a few dozen more in my jacket pocket or bag. <br><br>I never had to use them but it gave me a lot of peace of mind, lol.
