I kept my cousins laptop untouched and unopened for 4 years just to spite them

My cousin and his family came to stay over at our place for a night when I was in hs, it was clear from the looks of things that he and I were gonna be sharing a room for night. He was probably 23 at the time while I was 15. He was an okay guy but when he asked what he should do with his laptop I jokingly (to me) said to put it under the bed, he did, and I forgot about it, leaving it there. <br><br>A few months later when I was in college and got a laptop I was moving in my old room when I saw one of the blue bread bags you get from Costco were a new pair of shoes should be was instead a laptop in the bread bag, dirty, dusty, and sad. I opened it, still worked fine, all of his stuff was still on it, it was like time stopped for it. <br><br>I thought that was the funniest thing, seeing this in my room for the first time made me remember when he left it there. I later texted him asking “hey did you ever find your laptop?” he replied “yeah, I bought a new one and left the other one there”. It was probably a joke at first but once he realized that I actually was genuine with my text he said “honest to god, I thought that’s what you wanted. I gave you the laptop I actually used up until then”. <br><br>I thought it was funny, I also forgot about it again. The next year when we were all at my parents place for christmass I brought it out and he was shocked and asked how I still had it and I told him I forgot. He said he got it off the bed and put it in the nightstand and I forgot (which I did). The next year, I decided to do the same thing, bring it out as a joke at christmass, but this time he didn’t laugh and I got a text from his wife the next day asking me if I could please send it to him, I told her it was still the one I carry with me everywhere, which was a lie, it’s still in my room. <br><br>I’ve seen him a couple times since then and brought it back out a couple times. I don’t know why this is so fun for me but I still carry it with me whenever I visit my family and he’s there, I have it when I go to his house, I’ll see it on my desk and for a couple minutes I’ll forget about it, and then I remember when I asked him to put it under the bed and I can’t help but laugh.
