I was a pacesetter at a major marathon and got thousands of dollars for being a 25 min 5K runner.

I’m a young college athlete and I realized that when I’m running alone I can maintain a 6:30 min mile pace for 13.1 miles. So, I applied to be a pacesetter for a major half marathon and received compensation in the thousands. Nobody realized that I was 6’3 and not a small young girl until I crossed the finish line and all these kids were crying that their dad said to follow me to a sub 2 hour half and I was a male. I felt like an asshole but the money was too good to pass up.
