I grew up in a safe neighborhood, but my parents got a baseball bat for safety purposes. We told all our neighbors, and even showed them where we kept it. So if I ever knocked on their door with a bat in the middle of the night, they would know I was the one at the door.<br><br>We only had a back door that led to the outside with no window, so it's not like they could peek and see I was the one.
