I’m 17 and I live in a fairly nice house in a culdesac. Our house is on the corner and there’s a park to our right. It’s the perfect house to be in on Halloween as well as the never-ending Christmas displays that can be strung along our house.

I’ve never actually answered the door. It’s too scary. I lock myself in my room every year (but this year I will be at a party). My mom always answers the door and she has a bowl of candy next to her to hand out.

Well my neighbors kids are older 20, 16, 19 and I’m 17 so I don’t think they go trick or treating anymore except on some rare occasion.

So the first time I was 12. Their mom had dropped them off at 4 and the dad wasn’t home yet. I was bored and I never did anything wrong. I looked over my shoulder and I could see the bowl of candy. I ran over and stole some snickers and Reese’s and I ran back over to the windowsill.

The next year I stole some more. Then last year the mom and dad were both gone and the kids were at school. I got really ballsy and I stole 2 handfuls of candy. I dumped the candy into my bucket and I ran back to my room. The first year I got away with it but the second and third year the mom started to ask my mom if she could’ve given our family some (but it was really me).

She never got mad at my mom. I feel bad for eating the kid’s candy now as an adult. But they probably don’t care now since they’re all grown up and moved out.

Edit: I forgot to add the kid’s parents were never home. They always left their kids home alone and it would be hours until they got home. If I remember correctly they didn’t get home until 6 or 8.
