ETA: this was 12 years ago when I was was 22 years old and I’m not getting married now. See my replies for more info.

I didn’t know what I wanted for my wedding. I was 22 and we had only planned it for three months because we ran out of money and couldn’t live separately anymore.

So I went with what my friends were doing. His aunt was paying for it, so that helped, but was very particular about almost everything.

When it was time to deal with the table runners my aunt and I had a Civil War style battle over what color they should be. I was team burgundy and she was team baby blue.

Honestly, I was leaning on beige because I don’t like weddings and didn’t want to get married in the first place, but I was doing it because we were young and pregnant and it was expected of us. But I absolutely hated blue. She was a weird aunt that no one liked and the reason I was having a wedding was because of her.

She was stupidly stubborn and I was a stubborn ass too. I didn’t want baby blue in my wedding. I hated baby blue. She hated the idea of a wedding being anything other than traditional. Honestly I think she just wanted to be a mean aunt that pointed out how my pregnancy was affecting my ankles.

It got so bad that eventually I just said screw it, cancelled the wedding, moved in with my baby daddy and we lived happily ever after.

Edit: we are no longer together, this was 12 years ago
