Special edition stuff is annoying

How can I buy a car that doesn’t have a giant flag on it? How can I buy a cereal box that isn’t telling me it’s the “2nd edition.” How do I buy a box of chocolates that doesn’t have gold foil on it? How do I buy an nba jersey that isn’t from the “best jersey of the 2010s collection.” What do I have to do to get a fast food sandwich that isn’t “limited time only” or “memorial day sale.”

Genuinely the only thing I want changed about the world is to have product lines stick to the same aesthetic forever, as opposed to changing it every 3-6 months to try to convince you to buy something before it’s gone forever.

Edit: I just opened a protein bar I got a free sample of with my protein powder and the packaging says “limited release flavor!” Which, I feel like free samples are just the company getting rid of a new flavor that’s not hitting right. So when I see “limited release flavor,” my brain immediately goes to “so this is a bummer.” Do you ever try a new food and think “this is my favorite”? No. When I try a new food I’m usually just like “oh, this is another food.” Having a new food take over your life is great, discovering something you dislike isn’t. But companies want you to believe the opposite. They want you to always rush to a new release because you’ll love it, and they want you to never go back to an old release because it’s gone for good and you lost your chance.
