I kept gas station coffee warm to get through a deployment.

Of course we had coffee on base. But it was just that awful powdered crap. So I put a thermos of coffee in my rucksack each morning and used a hot water bottle to keep it warm. Hot water bottles are perfectly safe. And they definitely won’t explode.<br><br>Edit: I served outside of Kandahar. Our area was pretty quiet, but there was definitely a chance we could get hit while out. I knew I’d get it if it happened, and I definitely wasn’t the only one.
