I stole a lot of food in high school because I was hungry and didn’t have money for it

It was the beginning of my junior year of high school. I was 16, had just started my second job to be able to keep up with my car payments, car insurance, phone bill, and put gas in it. I got a cafeteria lunch, which was $3. Just that alone is $15 a week on food, which is a lot when you only make $50 a week. I stopped buying lunch and started eating vending machine stuff and saving any snacks I got at breakfast to eat afterwards and rack up points for the snack bar. I’d buy a couple snacks, and then I started taking a few extras.

This went on for the rest of that year, and the way it worked is similar to a cafeteria. When I graduated, I had accumulated over $500 in stolen food.

Edit: a LOT of comments, please exercise patience as I try to respond to them all.

Edit 2: I did not steal $500 worth of food. The total on my account was over $500 but I wasn’t charged for all of it. I was charged for a little over $200
