Why do parents prioritize sending their kids to college over teaching them how to do basic adult things?

I’m not saying all parents do this, but there’s a lot of people I know that can’t do anything and they’re in their 20s, they’re going to college but they can’t cook a half decent meal, they don’t know how to do their laundry, they can’t change a tire, they just don’t know how to do anything and I think that if parents spent half as much time teaching their kids life skills as they do making sure they get into a good university, there would be way more capable adults.<br><br>Edit: I feel like most of you are just Skipsing past the “I’m not saying all parents do this” part
