I pretend to be my son on his smartphone apps. I am a 44 year old man and I pretend to be my 12 year old son in his smartphone apps.

About two months ago, I signed up for a smartphone app with that pretends you are in a high school, but you don't know what type of character you are - the app tells you your traits as you sign up.

This app is aimed at kids and teenagers, and the gameplay is really simple. You answer questions and the app will tell you «Oh, you are the popular kid! You are the kid that will have the best life ever.». «Oh, you are the outcast, loser kid. You should buy our premium subscription and maybe you will have a chance to be the popular one».

One sunny Saturday morning, I signed up with the app and answered the questions. I got to know that I was the kid in need - you know, the one who doesn't have enough food because his parents are drug addicts or something like that. He is the one who gets the free lunch at school because he doesn't have money, lives in a trailer park, has a single dad working multiple jobs to feed the family...

«Hey there kid, you are the kid nobody knows. You are the invisible one, the one that walks and nobody even sees you. But don't worry, only pay 4.99 a month and you will get more friends and you will be popular!»

For real, I was the kid that was bullied and made fun of for wearing the Walmart brand shoes, but at least I had lunch money.

I answered another two polls and received two more notifications. «He is the kid who lost his father in a tragic accident a few years ago, lives with his abusive mother and has to deal with his older brother making fun of him because of his teeth.»

«He is the kid who lost his parents in a terrible fire. He is living with his uncle, his dad's brother, but his uncle doesn't like the fact that his own brother is dead because he couldn't save him. He has PTSD because he remembers the sound of the smoke alarm and the smell of smoke.»

«He is the kid that is being abused by his mom's boyfriend. He is being beaten and abused, but he doesn't tell his mom because he is afraid she will die. He is afraid of his mom's boyfriend and lives in fear. He is the kid who doesn't want to play with the other kids, because they will ask him why he doesn't have a dad, and why he lives with his mom's boyfriend.»

I was living a really sad life in this app, and to make my life better I had to pay 4.99 a month. I was the poor kid, the fat kid, the one who never had a date. I was the one who would most likely die an alcoholic because of «family reasons».

The app was very inaccurate, I was just a guy who answered 5 questions and I was living this terrible life where my parents were dead, I had no food and I was the fat kid with crooked teeth.

I asked my son to install the app, I wanted to see if the results were the same for him. My son is a very happy kid, he is always invited to birthdays, he laughs and he always says that he loves me. I asked him to sign up for the app, and he did.

Instead of being the abused kid, the app told him that he was the popular kid. He was the one inviting kids to his birthdays, the one who would be the most popular at school.

The app did a very accurate test, and I was amazed. In time, he started receiving the same notifications that I was receiving. «He is the kid who is loved by his dad, he is the kid who has a dad that is always home. He is the kid who never had to be afraid of anything in life. He is the fortunate one.»

The app is very right. He is the kid with a dad, the kid who never had to wear a pair of sandals to school and the kid who has everything he needs. I pay his subscription to this app.
