When traveling, check if your phone company is part of the same alliance as the local phone provider of the country you are traveling to.

Even if your phone company doesn't charge you for international data, you can still be charged for the data that you use, just because the local phone provider is not part of your phone company's alliance. Just because you have free data, doesn't mean that the local provider will honor that.
