AITA for saying my husband needs to keep his mouth shut when my sister and I are discussing the custody of my niece.

My sister and I have been to every court hearing for my niece and have been the only ones pushing for her to be removed from my mother's home.

My husband has been on my sister and I's side since day one.

My husband's sister and brother and wife have disagreed with the outcome and want my niece to go back to my mother because she "isn't all bad".

Anyway, we all went out to dinner for my husband's birthday, and my sister and I were talking about the case trajectory and what we think will happen and when. And my husband kept piping in with his observations and shit.

And like, it's not that I don't trust him, I do. But I'm just so afraid my SIL and BIL will go and repeat what he says to my mother.

So I took him outside after the second time he said something and told him he needed to just keep his mouth shut when my sister and I are discussing the case.

He said he was just trying to help. And I reinforced that I wanted him to keep his mouth shut.

I also reminded him that he's only a witness to the case because he said something to my SIL/BIL the last time and it got back to my mother who tried to get him removed as a witness.

He said fine and went back in, but my SIL/BIL were all pissed off.

They're mad at me for telling him to keep his mouth shut, and I'm mad at them for the very real possibility that they'll repeat what he says to my mother.

AITA?
