$600 stimulus check won't cover a single paycheck in my $75,000/year job. How is this supposed to cover 2 weeks of expenses for people who are losing their jobs?

I have 100% health insurance, 5 weeks of vacation, etc. I'm just a software engineer. My job will still be here after the pandemic.

The stimulus checks are $600 per person, plus $600 per child, plus some money for legal residents who don't have taxation IDs.

My job is considered an essential service and the company has no intention of closing, but if it did, I'd need more than $600 to cover 2 weeks worth of expenses. How is this supposed to work for all the fast food and retail and service industry workers who are about to lose their jobs?
