What do you do when you are in places where jew hating is the norm?

I'm originally from a small town in Germany. This town is known for its jew-hatred. The town had a large synagogue with a cemetery. The synagogue was destroyed by Nazis in 1938 and they also destroyed the cemetery. They used the headstones to pave the streets and to use them as foundation for the houses. I can't prove this, but I assume the building material of the synagogue was stolen and used to build houses in the town. I was born more than 50 years after WW2, but the jew-hating tradition was still present in the town. No jew would live in this town. You were seen as bizarre when you showed any kind of sympathy for Israel. My family was the only one I knew that was sympathetic with Israel and jews. I was the only one in my school that showed any kind of sympathy for jews. It was naturally to hate jews in that town.

As a teenager I started to do a little research about WW2 because my family had a different narrative than the town. I grew up with the narrative that jews are innocent victims of NS ideology and that Israel has the right to exist and to defend itself. It was disturbing to see people around me call jews Christ-killers and say jews are evil and should be eradicated from the earth. It was disturbing to see people around me calling Israel an apartheid state that should be destroyed. As an answer I put a little Israeli flag in my room and a star of David as a pendant. My family was happy. But I couldn't help but feel isolated in my town. I felt like an outsider when people in my town were talking about jews and Israel and calling them names. It was naturally for them to hate jews. They didn't know anything else.

Later I moved to a city in Germany. I'm still living there. Situation is a bit different. jew-hating is not the norm in the city I'm living in. There are a lot jews living in the city. The city has two synagogues, a lot of jewish restaurants and shops. There is a university and there are a some courses about jewish history and culture, even a little department about Israel. I love to see this. But still jew-hating is present in the city. There are still a lot people who hate jews. The jew-hating is not naturally, but you can feel the jew-hating. I live in an appartment building. Most of the neighbours are friendly, but some of them are jew-haters. I have two neighbours, a man and a woman, who I was friends with for a short time. One day when I was talking with them I noticed that they were jew-haters. They called Israel an apartheid state. I noticed later that they were members of the german left wing party. They are on facebook and post a lot pictures of the arab-israeli conflict. They post pictures of dead arab children and call Israel a murderer. They post pictures of arab children in hospitals in Gaza and call Israel a murderer. They say jews are evil. I wasn't surprised. jew-hating is more present in the left wing in Germany and EU than in the right wing. You can't be a member of the left wing party in Germany if you are pro-Israel or love Israel. I unfriended them on facebook. I still greet them when I see them in the staircase. But I don't talk with them anymore. I don't talk with jew-haters.

I'm working in a jewish community in the city I'm living in. The community consists of jews and jew-lovers like me. Most jews in the community are immigrants from Ukraine and Russia. I'm a volunteers in this community. I help the community with a lot things, like translating documents, helping with documents, helping with housework around the community, helping with translating in public offices or banks when someone needs to translate something from german to russian or ukrainian. I'm also learning hebrew in the community. I'm still a beginner, but I'm still learning and improving. I love the community. It's like a second family for me. Most of the jews in the community are orthodox, but there are also non-religious jews. My best friend is a jew from Ukraine. He is one of my best friends. I love him. He is kind, honest and humble. I also have a lot of other jewish friends in the community. Whenever I'm in the community I feel like I'm at home. I don't have to hide my love for Israel when I'm in the community. I can openly show my love for Israel without any fear of being judged or hated.

I'm also active in a lot pro-Israel groups on facebook. There are a lot groups where jews and non-jews who love Israel meet each other. I love to talk with jews and non-jews who love Israel. We talk about everything. Politics, culture, hobbies. We share a lot of things with each other. I also met a jew from Israel in one of these groups. I love to talk with him. He is a nice guy. He is living in Tel Aviv. He is not religious. I love to hear about his life in Israel. I love to hear what he thinks about the arab-israeli conflict. He says jews and arabs have to live together in harmony.

I also met a lot jews from Israel in person. I visited Israel two times. One time in 2012 and one time in 2016. I spent three weeks in Israel in 2012 and three weeks in Israel in 2016. I saw a lot places in Israel. I saw Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Yad Vashem, the Western Wall, the red sea. I met a lot jews in Israel. Most of them were nice. Some of them were not so nice, but most of them were nice. I loved to talk with them. I wish I could go back to Israel one day.

I'm also active on other social media platforms like instagram and tiktok. I post a lot photos and videos about Israel and jews. I love to share my love for Israel and jews. I love to see jews and non-jews around me who love Israel. I post a lot photos of Israel and jews. I post a lot videos of Israel and jews. I often get a lot likes and comments on instagram and tiktok. Most of the comments are positive. Some of the comments are negative. Negative comments are often from jew-haters. jew-haters call me names. They call me idiot, jew-lover, nazi, racist. jew-haters say jews are evil, jews are demons, jews should be eradicated from the earth. I don't care about jew-haters. I love jews and Israel more than I hate jew-haters. jew-haters are not a problem for me. I just block them on social media platforms. I love jews and Israel more than I hate jew-haters.

Can you tell me how you handle jew-hating in places where jew-hating is common?
