My husband and I (both 40s) went to his home state for Christmas with his family. We had a 5 day stay at a lake house with his 2 brothers and their wives and one sister and her husband. We did this last year, too, and his brothers spent the entire time fishing instead of hanging out with the group. My sister in law and I hung out on our own because we were bored with the guys gone.

This year, I asked my husband if he wanted to go fishing. He said no, he wanted to hang out with me because we haven't had a lot of alone time lately.
When we got to the lake house, all of a sudden he decided he wanted to go fishing. I asked if he was sure, and he said yes.

I hung out at the lake house with his sister and her husband and the other two wives for the first two days. I didn't hear from him for two days at a time. On the third day, he came back and said he missed me and wanted to spend the day with me, so I went to a local brewery with him. I met his brothers and their wives who also cut their fishing trip short to hang out with the group.

The next morning he got up at 5:00 and went fishing. I was so pissed. I went to a local spa and got some treatments that helped me feel a little better.

That night, his brothers and their wives made a big dinner and invited everyone. My husband didn't show back up until 10:00pm.

I told him that I wanted to go home. I missed my dogs and I was sick of being alone in a state that isn't home, just to be by myself. He looked shocked and said he thought we were just hanging out at the lake house.

I told him I made an appointment to get my hair done the next day and was going to explore bookstores and used record stores with his sister and her husband.

He changed his plans and cut his fishing trip short again.

Now I feel guilty like I'm keeping him from fun. I don't want to keep him from fun, but I also am hurt that he went back on our plans to spend time together so he could go fishing.

Should I just let it go because we have 336 days until the next Christmas?
