Has anyone ever used a throwaway bag?

I found a throw away bag for a dollar and was wondering if you could use it to throw away your items and get away with it. Like if you put the item in the bag and then push the cart up to the self checkout, then scan the bag and then just throw the bag away with the items inside. All the employees at my store stand next to the trashcans that are next to the self checkout area
