Evaluating other work

I'm currently writing a story and I've posted each chapter as I write it in this subreddit. It seems I do not have the time to make the changes I would like to make in the amount of time necessary to write a chapter to my liking. I think if I took the time to rewrite it would be a significant improvement. However, I've noticed that I don't know how.

I've evaluated a story over the past few days, but only have found a couple things that were problematic, and found nothing else that I could improve. I have started to use grammarly, but it doesn't seem to help much. So far it only found word choice and sentence length. How do other people evaluate their work in progress? What do you look for when you're being your own editor? Does this change at all if you're working with a professional editor?

TLDR: I need to evaluate my story but I'm not sure what to look for.
