Language learners, do you ever say things wrong and realize it’s actually correct in another language?

Like my family was staying in a hotel and I told my mom to call the elevator, I mistakenly called it the lift. It’s the only time I think I’ve accidentally used a British English word. Usually I’m the one correcting people here in the US when they say things like “apartment” when they mean flat. So yeah, has anyone else done this?
