50 year old Boomer guy who owns a restaurant chain came in to work, gave employees a 50-cent gas card, and called everyone "a bunch of fucking babies" because we are trying to ask for a 10-cent wage raise

This caused an exodus of younger employees at the restaurant he owns. Like, I'm not gonna tell you the Fuckin name of the restaurant, but it's a larger restaurant in the city. It's like a space where people go for dates. It's a middle class little home. It's very expensive, but not like ridiculously expensive. Anyways, the dude who owns the restaurant chain, he came in and he walked in the back and he said you know, I heard that apparently a lot of you guys have been asking for a raise. <br><br>And he goes, "I want to talk to you about that, I heard the economy is going well for some people and not good for others, and I heard that gas prices, and a lot of prices for food have gone up over the past year." And he goes, "I'm not really sure if you guys are aware, but last year was a bad year for us and a lot of our stores have shut down and we've laid off a lot of people and a lot of our employees aren't able to make ends meet. So what I'm gonna have to do is I'm going to have to give you guys a 50-cent gas card." <br><br>And then he goes, "A lot of you guys, who are still working for me, you're still here, but a lot of you guys are complaining while I'm still giving you a job, I'm not letting you go, I believe in you" or whatever the Fuck, right? He was talking to a room full of 20-year-olds, and the dude is like 50. He was very condescending, very snarky. <br><br>And he goes, " Fuck you, this is my business, this is how it works. I'm the one who's been running this shit since before you were born. I don't need to answer to any of you guys. I've been in this business for 30 years, I know what I'm doing. I'm an entrepreneur , I'm a Fuckin' boss, I'm a hard worker." And he goes, "I think a lot of you guys are fucking babies, because you want a 10-cent gas card, but really what you want is a 10-cent wage raise." <br><br>But Fuckin', some of the managers in the room, they sided with him, they said "Yeah! You're gonna ask for a 10-cent wage raise? Well, that's not how this works. You're gonna get a 50-cent gas card instead, and you'll use that money to pay for the gas that you drive to work, and you will use the rest of your money to pay for the Food that you buy at our restaurant." <br><br>And he goes, "You're all a bunch of fucking babies, entitled Fuckin' people, I hate it. You're not gonna get a 10-cent wage raise. Instead, you're gonna have to deal with a 50-cent gas card, and that's how it works. This is my business, I'm the one who's doing all the hard work, I'm the one who's doing all the risk. You guys just sit around and wait tables around here all day." <br><br>And he goes, "I don't want to hear any more of you Fuckin' people asking for a wage raise. If any of you Fuckin' people ask for a wage raise again, I'm gonna have to let all of you go. I'll shut down the restaurant before I let all of you Fuckin' people take my money."<br><br>After that, a lot of people left and we got a new manager and a new restaurant owner, but we don't get the wage raise that we wanted. <br><br><br>EDIT: I was earning $12, and wanted a 10 cent wage raise to bring it to $12.10, but I was given the gas card instead.
