The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a probe into land deals worth over Rs 15,000 crore in which land mafia allegedly acquired properties worth crores of rupees using proxy farmers.The investigations were ordered by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after he received complaints that land mafia were acquiring agricultural land in the name of farmers and then selling them at a higher price.The probe has revealed that land mafia had acquired land worth over Rs 15,000 crore in various districts of Uttar Pradesh.Officials said that the land mafia mostly were from one religion and they even promised farmers a hefty amount of money to sell their land.BJP MLA Saurabh Srivastava said that in the Faizabad district, the land mafia acquired land in the name of farmers and sold them to builders at a high price.
