Why I don’t celebrate ‘the wins’ anymore.

Just like with the Amber Heard case… I’m tired of men losing and the ‘win’ and feeling like it’s going to make a difference. It didn’t. It’s fine to take a moment and celebrate that a man who killed and disfigured six women is finally in jail… but we really need to just keep our heads down, keep fighting, keep pushing for change. Celebrate AFTER you’ve won the war. Don’t be satisfied with a battle that was hard as hell to win, and still didn’t touch every fucking thing that needs fixing. For all the people who are saying “well at least you’re safe now,” you have no idea how FUCKING FAR from safety I AM. I had a best friend who was killed by a man. I was raped multiple times. I was beaten by my ex-husband. I’ve had to move to a new place because a man I didn’t know started showing up where I worked. I don’t feel safe, no matter what the courts rule on. Stay quiet, stay vigilant. I’m tired of celebrating ‘little wins’ that do NOTHING.
