What’s the deal about the freaky parrot videos on TikTok?

What’s happening ?? For context I’m not on TikTok and don’t know what I’m looking at. Let me explain…. Someone posted on Chambers a bunch of videos of animal abuse that happen daily and the one that I couldn’t get over was the videos of parrots screaming as they were getting beaten and just trembling and endlessly shrieking “please stop, please stop”. The owners were making it worse by just talking to it while punching it in the face. They were so nonchalant. There are hundreds of videos like this. I’m so confused. Is this a trend? Are there a lot of people who abuse parrots?? I’m so lost ??
